There are also other marketable species such as the savorín Seriolella porosa. The aim of this work is to characterize the presence of this species in the gulf as regards abundance, population structure and biology. The material used derived from three sources of information: fishing survey cruises, landing samplings and record of the fishing activity. The results obtained allowed to delimit a spawning ground and a nursery area. The relative abundance of the resource showed seasonal variations with the highest values in August. The captured range size was 19-59 cm for females and 19-56 cm for males. The first sexual maturity was estimated at 33.7 cm for males and 45.1 cm for females. The commercial catch is seasonal and coincides with the abundance peak in August and with the period of maximum reproductive activity in the gulf waters. Following the guidelines of responsible fisheries, the importance of incorporating information on seasonal abundance species in the management of the fishery is discussed
